273 x 209 mm. A view from roadway looking towards partially cleared jungle. The Tjinta Radja [i.e. Raja ?] Estate, in the Batang Sarangan District of Langkat, was owned in 1887 by E. Borring and E. Niederer, and managed by the latter. Its size in that year was 2000 acres.

273 x 209 mm. View from a hillside looking down onto a row of thatched houses runing along beside the coal mine railway. The small trucks of coal are drawn by bullocks. Muara (also known as Brooketon) is situated some 13 miles east of Brunei Tarn and was a centre for coal mining by the British North Borneo Company until 1925. 358 x 268 mm. A view looking along the driveway towards the large thatched bungalow, with servants quarters behind. The Dutch Controller of the district (C.A. Kroesen in 1887) is presumably one of the two figures standing in front of the house. Binjai is situated 12 miles east of Medan.

Quarter-plate (landscape format). The Bakau Co Ltd: turns out about 80 tons per month: exported to England, France Germany, Holland, U.S.A. The best cutch is obtained from the Tungah tree.
