Coal mines, Muara, Borneo [i.e. Brunei, Borneo Island], 1880 - 1889
273 x 209 mm. View from a hillside looking down onto a row of thatched houses runing along beside the coal mine railway. The small trucks of coal are drawn by bullocks. Muara (also known as Brooketon) is situated some 13 miles east of Brunei Tarn and was a centre for coal mining by the British North Borneo Company until 1925.
