Dandenong State Forest, 1870 - 1880
188 x 140 mm. A view in the forest, showing large tree-ferns with a carpet of smaller ferns covering the forest floor. The Dandenong Range lies about 20 miles east of Melbourne, and its rich, volcanic soil supports in abundance the lush plant-life seen in the photograph. Part of the area has been taken over by the State as a reserve.
