Water colours and pen and ink sketches documenting Anderson's travels in southern Africa, accompanied by his original captions and explanatory notes. The original titles and captions have been enclosed in single quotation marks, and have been transcribed in the catalogue as found, with the exception of an egregiously offensive term used in some titles, which has not been transcribed. Where possible, modern place names have been supplied.

A view showing the summit of the kopje 100 feet above the Tuli River with a cleared space surrounded by a thorn zariba. Inside the zariba are rows of bivouac tents, a group of pioneers gathered round light field pieces and the searchlight (see Y3052A/30) and a flagpole in the foreground. Photograph taken during the first week of July 1890.

Zimbabwe, 1961 - 1962
Paintings and drawings by school pupils in Africa and India and a selection of artwork from other countries, some mounted on cardboard. The collection includes work by pupils of George Stevens, a friend of Richard Carline, who taught at a school in Africa before the Second World War. A covering note by Unity Spencer explaining the origins of the collection is with RCMS 58/1.
Zimbabwe, 1957-03 - 1965
A series of photographs of the University of Zimbabwe. The University College of Rhodesia and Nyasaland, Salisbury (now Harare), was incorporated in 1955. In 1980 it became the University of Zimbabwe.
