An album containing 39 mounted black and white prints, measuring approximately 195 x 140 mm, and 11 coloured reproductions of scenes in New Zealand. All the photographs are mounted on thin card which has printed on it a caption followed by descriptive notes on the picture. The album contains an advertisement for holidays in New Zealand.

Government Departmental Offices, Wellington, New Zealand, 1876
364 x 257 mm. A view of the Government Building on Lambton Quay with three figures standing in the roadway in front. This is the handsome building which superseded the offices shown in Y3089B/27. Finished around 1876 (to the design of W.H. Clayton), it is a wooden structure looking deceptively like stone. The chimneys seen here were later removed in the interests of architectural harmony.

360 x 265 mm. A view showing the front of Government House from the lawn, with a landau outside the entrance and a gardener raking the gravel. Am archery target stands on the lawn. This is the second Government House, designed by William Mason in 1856 to replace the first residence which burnt down in 1848.

281 x 223 mm. A view looking down on to the wooded garden of the Domain with the fine structure of Government House set among trees. A restrained and attractive building, more in the style of the eighteenth than the nineteenth century, it was designed by William Mason and completed in 1856. It took over from the first Government House, a wooden building which burnt down in 1848.
