These files include annual reports, accompanied in some cases by explanatory letters, reports of annual general meetings, statements of accounts and other papers.

The prints listed were chiefly from the files of the Photo Bureau, the majority being mounted on sheets of paper with substantial descriptions, and in many cases the negative attached. Titles and captions, including the names of institutions, have been recorded as found. Captions supplied by the cataloguer are enclosed in square brackets.

Activities were extended to Kuala Lumpur in 1957, and in 1959 two sections, the University of Malaya in Singapore and the University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur formally came into being.
