Scope and Contents

Material relating to deliberations of the Federal Ports Committee and the Colonial Office regarding the development of Singapore, Port Swettenham, Penang and Malacca. It includes representations from commercial organisations stating that congestion was hindering trade, and in particular the import of consumer goods, building materials and fertilisers. Also included is a copy of ‘Report on the major ports of Malaya’ by D.F. Allen, representative for the Far East of the U.K. Ministry of Transport (70 sheets).
