Inner Harbour, Galle, 1870 - 1889
266 x 213 mm. A view from the rocky shoreline looking across the Inner Harbour where several ships are moored towards the town of Galle on the far side. For centuries Galle, with its large but treacherous harbour, was the chief trading port of Ceylon, especially under Portuguese rule in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.

210 x 271 mm. General view of the jewel encrusted casket, shaped in the form of a dagoba and intended to contain the tooth relic in the Dalada Maligawa (Temple of the Tooth) at Kandy. A clipping from an unidentified paper, stuck into the album, gives details of the precious stones and metals contained in the casket and canopy. Photographer unknown, probably W.L.H. Skeen & Co.
