85x140mm. Charles Noble Arden-Clarke (1898-1962) was in the Colonial Service in Africa from 1920 until 1946, when he was appointed first Governor and Commander-in-Chief of Sarawak. In 1949 he was appointed Governor of the Gold Coast, and became, briefly, its first Governor-General on Independence in 1957. In this photograph he is seated in a chair.
