Showing long wooden fishing canoes moored on the bank of the River Volta. The typewritten caption on the reverse reads 'Another source of revenue is the canoe license; this costs ten shillings per year'.
Cape Coast
Little is known of the provenance of this collection of uncaptioned glass negatives. It features pupils gathered round a sign which reads 'Cape Coast Wesley Technical Institution.' It is likely, therefore, that the rest of the images relate to the school's students and activities.

Showing a group of men holding a cow which is about to be vaccinated. The typewritten caption on the reverse reads ' Cattle Insurance. At the immunization camps set up by the Department of Animal Health, the farmers pay one shilling per beast that is immunized; this goes to the Native Treasury. Should, as occasionally happens, an animal die from injections, the Native Treasury pays out the full value of the beast to the owner'.
