281x217mm. View looking N. along Council House Street, showing the E. facade of the Department of Commerce and Industry built on the site of the old Foreign Office. A two storey brick building with a terrace roof, the Department has an arcade running along the ground storey, with a colonnade of Tuscan columns above. The facade of the building is broken by three pavilions, those at the ends being pedimented. Date of construction unknown, (Massey p.70).

283 x 216 mm. Group portrait of the picnic participants, with a small military band standing in the background. No identifications are given, although J.G. Lindsay can be seen seated at the right hand end of the front row. The figures are grouped in front of some sort of female effigy. Another, similar figure, stands at the far end of the fields near some unidentified ruins. Presumably these are props in some kind of game.
