280 x 225 mm. A view looking across the plain from a small wooded rise, with the river Nepean in the middle distance, and the township (indistinct) beyond the river. The town lies about 36 miles west of Sydney and in the early years of the nineteenth century was abundantly populated with emus.

'Part of the high lands have been cleared of the dead timber and undergrowth and all but the most ornamental trees, and a large open space afforded, whereon military encampments and reviews can be held. About 600 acres of the cleared lands have been sown with English grasses'.
