The photograph is taken from the terrace above the two storey colonnade which runs around the three sides of the Machchi Bhawan or 'Fish Square', part of which can be seen in the background. The top of the dome of the Saman Burj can be seen behind the Diwan-i-khas. Photographer unknown, possibly Sache, - , fl 1879-1899.

161 x 112 mm. Showing the paddlesteamer 'Thambyadine' moored at a landing place at an unidentified location. Built in 1879 and serving the Mandalay-Bhamo route, the 'Thambyadine' was used by General Prendergast as his HQ during the advance of the Irrawaddy in the Third Burmese War of 1885. The boat was broken up at Dalla in 1925. No record of service by this boat on the Chindwin has been located.
