Scope and Contents 276 x 216 mm. View of the sacred bo-tree standing amidst the ruins of the courts and terraces which once surrounded it. The caption printed on the plate reads: 'Ficus religiosa. The sacred bo tree at Anaradhapura. This ancient tree is an object of veneration to the Buddhist; its parent in India being the identical tree under which the Gautama is said to have achieved the Buddhaship. Scope and Contents 274 x 216 mm. View from the north east of the Kuwanweli Dagota, a solid, bell shaped mound 250 feet in diameter and 180 feet high to the tip of the copper finial. This, the most important of the surviving buildings of the old capital of Anyradhapura, was begun by King Duttugaimunu and completed after his death in 137 BC by his brother the successor King Saidaitissa. Half-plate (landscape format). One of the side gates. To left side of picture, in shadow above the line of elephants heads are the remains of the ancient painting of the stone work - a red, yellow and green. Colour of brick work at back is a dirty red - stonework is now for the most part a dull gray, i.e. paint has worn off. (Fisher).

Scope and Contents From the File: Contains prints the majority of which are circa 290 x 215 mm., but 4-6, 9-18, 20-27, 51-55, 91-94, and 96-98 are approximately 140 x 100 mm. Nos. 4-27, 51 are scenes of the Royal Visit in November 1905, 19-26 being triumphal arches. The other subjects are the Maharajah and his family (1-3), Lallgarh Palace (28-50), Gujner (52-64), the Old Palace (65-82, 85), Bikaner City (83-84, 891-98 and Bikaner forces (89-90).
