General view of the main temple building set inside an arcaded courtyard at or near Nowshera (or Naoshera), a cantonment town on the right tributary of the Chenab in the Mirpur district south of Murree. 250 x 200 mm. View looking towards a fortified stone quadrangle. The writer of the original caption has evidently confused the southern part of Bombay Island with Kolaba, the mainland coastal district south of Bombay which was the stronghold of Maratha pirates from the 17-18th centuries. Scope and Contents From the File: Contains prints the majority of which are circa 290 x 215 mm., but 4-6, 9-18, 20-27, 51-55, 91-94, and 96-98 are approximately 140 x 100 mm. Nos. 4-27, 51 are scenes of the Royal Visit in November 1905, 19-26 being triumphal arches. The other subjects are the Maharajah and his family (1-3), Lallgarh Palace (28-50), Gujner (52-64), the Old Palace (65-82, 85), Bikaner City (83-84, 891-98 and Bikaner forces (89-90). There are printed captions: the collection is in a richly bound album...
