Scope and Contents From the Sub-Fonds: Arranged in three groups as follows: N Abyan; O Radfan, Mudeiras and P Seiyun and Hadhramaut. These three groups numbered by JEM do not include any scenes in Aden itself. They cover a journey into Abyan, with scenes in Zinjibar and Giar (Ja'ar); a visit to the Radfan, including a military post and Mukeiras; a visit to the Hadhramaut, with several views taken in Seiyn (Saiun). 261x212mm. View of the fern house in the Lal Bagh Gardens to the south-east of the Fort at Bangalore. These gardens, which contained a menagerie as well as a fine collection of tropical and sub-tropical plants, were said to have been laid out in the time of Hyder Ali (1717/22-1782).

Ferry on the Bindjey River [i.e. Binjai], Lankat, 1880 - 1889

354 x 267 mm. A view looking across the Binjai River (the town of Binjai is situated 12 miles west of Medan) with the ferry moored at the bank in the foreground. A small pony trap stands on the ferry which is constructed from two canoes covered by a wooden platform. The vessel which crosses by means of the line running from bank to bank.
