Air Commodore Sir Hughie Edwards, VC (1914-1982) was on the staff of the Imperial Defence College in 1961. An Australian by birth, he was Governor of Western Australia 1974-1975.

104 x 149 mm (vignetted oval print). Showing a Kenyah man collecting sap from the upas or ipoh tree (Antiaris toxicaria). This runs from cuts made in the tree collected in a bamboo cup, a similar operation to rubber tapping.

The college was founded in 1864 for the education of sons of the nobility, and the buildings erected between 1867 and 1878. The college later became the University of Lucknow.
