Rampart Row runs across the picture and into Hornby Row in the distance at the end of which the Victoria Railway Terminus can be seen. The National Bank stands on the corner in the foreground, with a small portion of the High Court visible at the extreme left of the print. In the middle distance at the right is the tower of the Cathedral (see Y3022A/5).

Built on the site of the village of Toklaing during the Chin disturbances of 1889, the fort became one of the headquarters for British military activity in the Chin Hills.
