A tuba fishing on the Baram River, 1900

142 x 103 mm. Showing a group of dugouts gathered on the Baram River for a tuba fishing expedition. In these fishing parties roots of the tuba or derris plant are pulped with water and emptied into a fenced off section of river. This drives fish to the surface where they are speared.
