Scope and Contents Album of albumen prints lettered on the cover 'Photographs taken by the Royal Engineers with the Suakin Field Force 1885'. It contains photographs taken by engineer photographers during the campaign of 1885 and shows the coral architecture of the town of Suakin, portraits of the General's staff, Indian troops and lancers, and the ill-fated Suakin-Berber Railway (abandoned on Wolseley's orders, who dubbed it the line 'from nowhere to nowhere'). There is a mistake in the original numbering of the photographs, which has not been corrected here, so that images which should be numbered 389-398, and 484, do not exist.
