370 x 250 mm. The cut-out head-and-shoulder pictures of two boys have been stuck to the original photograph so that, at a glimpse, they appear to have been part of the original. They are located at the far-left and mid-right of the group. The caption on the back of the print reads: 'East Africa 1930. Left Aug.1.1930 returned Nov.22.1930. 29 boys 4 directors'.

He travelled by the Uganda railway from the coast to Kisumu, with stops on the way including Nairobi and a visit to the bamboo forest.
