Falkland Islands, 1953-08 - 1957-01-22
A series of photographs showing official events including views of Government House. Raynor Arthur was appointed Governor and Commander in Chief of the Falkland Islands in August 1953 and arrived at Port Stanley on 1 April 1954. He was appointed KCMG in January 1957 and left on 22 January 1957. Most of these photographs are sepia.

This group contains slides relating to a visit to South America and the Falkland Islands. It comprises Marnham B: Brazil, Montevideo and Falkland Islands and Marnham C: Birds of the Falkland Islands.

Falkland Islands album
An album of blank paper measuring 245 x 300 mm. The first thirty pages contain a miscellaneous collection of inserted photographs, original drawings and watercolours, mostly of maritime and naval interest and of family holidays, ranging in date from 1845 to 1900. There are eight original pictures of the Falkland Islands area, some of which are initialled G.M.H. or R.C.H. The last item is a photograph of troops embarking for the South African War in 1900.
Falkland Islands Dependencies, 1954-11 - 1957-01
A series of photographs relating to the Governor's responsibilities for the Falkland Islands Dependencies. Arthur paid four visits, November - December 1954, February - March, 1955, March -April 1956, and December 1956 - January 1957 (with the Duke of Edinburgh). Prints 151-165 are of Graham Land, Antarctica.

Notes relating to Lady Smedley’s efforts to keep in touch with family friends and diplomats when on home leave. It includes a printed list of representatives in London of foreign states and Commonwealth countries, November 1970; material relating to Diplomatic Service Wives Commonwealth Tea Party, December 1971; and inventories of furniture, fixtures and effects at Sherwood, Oak End Way, West Byfleet, for 1957 and 1976 (circa 80 sheets).
