The collection contains letters and papers relating to the life and career of Hugh Fraser Stewart and to the lives of the members of his family. The papers include correspondence of Stewart's wife Jessie, and of her father, mother and sisters. There is also correspondence of Stewart's brother-in-law Francis Jenkinson, as well as papers acquired by Stewart for his Memoir of the late librarian, published in 1926.
