Concerning 'the longitude discovered on mathematical principals and made clear and safely both by sea and land'. The letter outlines his proposed method of finding longitude and includes drawings. It was marked as undeserving of the Board's attention by Nevil Maskelyne.
James Dixon: letters to his father, 1836-1849
Letters from James Dixon to his father John sent whilst he was travelling, mostly on the Continent. The letters have been guarded and bound. All are originals, and are addressed to John Dixon at 50 Fenchurch Street, London, except for /36 which is addressed to 6 Mecklenburgh Square. They give a detailed account of James Dixon's foreign travels, particularly of his sojourns in Vienna and Paris
