Scope and Contents
Papers relating to George Howard Darwin, son of Charles and Emma Darwin, and his immediate family. Comprises: letters from Maud Darwin to members of the DuPuy family and to her husband, George Howard Darwin; letters from Emma Darwin to her son and daughter-in-law; letters of Henrietta Emma Litchfield to her brother, George Howard Darwin, and other close family members; letters to George Howard Darwin from Marlborough James Berry, Charles Davison, Ernest Brown, James Ireland Craig, Samuel Stricker Hough, Karl Pearson, John Murray, William Erasmus Darwin and many others. Together with printed matter relating to the 1905 tour by the British Association to Southern Africa, caricatures or cartoons of Charles Darwin, material relating to Charles Darwin's funeral and to the 1909 anniversary celebration events, and various articles and abstracts. There are well over 4000 letters in this class.
