He also informs her of his intention to try and join the Tirah expeditionary force after a polo tournament, says that he hopes [1st] Lord Roberts has used his influence on his behalf and includes a quote from Schopenhauer. Letter from WSC (4th Hussars [Bangalore] India) to "Mamma" [Lady Randolph Churchill] discussing his work [on "The River War"], a letter he has received from Ivor Guest [later Lord Ashby St Ledgers and 2nd Lord Wimborne], and the possibility that he may write a biography of [Lord Randolph Churchill]. The letter is dated 1898, but its contents suggest that it dates to 1899.
