Copy of the log book of 'the Mountegue'
Comprises 261 copies of photographic prints taken from the original log, collected by Dr J.G. Gubbins in 1932, as part of efforts to restore the University of Witwatersrand Library which had been destroyed by fire in 1932. The log book relates to a voyage from London to Surat in Gujarat, India, between 1699 and 1702.

A collection of loose modern prints measuring approximately 245 x 180 mm. This prints were copied from an album containing 53 prints compiled during the voyage. Included with the prints are xeroxes of the original explanatory captions. The R.Y.S. 'St George' was owned by Ernest James Wythes (1868-1949); the compiler and/or photographer has not been identified.

Mr (later Sir) Philip Joseph Hartog (1864-1947), first Vice-Chancellor of Dacca University 1920-25, is seated in the centre of the group. The only other identified figures are P. Collection of uncaptioned photographs by Cleary and Elliott, Kingston, Jamaica. The Memorial, a cross of island stone in front of the East Block of the Public Buildings in Kingston, was unveiled and dedicated on Armistice Day, 11 November 1922. Details for each photograph are derived from an accompanying Order of Service and the Jamaica Annual Report 1922.
