Petition from the City and Presidency of Bombay to the House of Commons in Westminster, requesting a reduction of the stipulated time within which the P&O Steamship Company contracts to carry mail by sea through the Suez Canal from Bombay to Brindisi and vice versa. P&O's contract expires in February 1880, and is shortly due for renewal. 7 pages, with c657 signatures of members of the Bombay merchant community. Sewn with red tape, and sealed.
