Scope and Contents
First part of a bundle of unsorted letters to AHP from his friends, relations, and acquaintances, mostly letters of congratulation, or enclosing presents, around the time of the wedding of AHP and Maud Lawrence. Subjects and people include: Lord Basil Temple Blackwood; Agnes Arkwright; Percy Wyndham; Dudleu Marjoribanks, 1st Baron Tweedmouth (2); J. A. Spender, on works of art; Theresa, Countess of Shrewsbury (3); S. P. Cockerell [Samuel Pepys Cockerell]; Ida Lynch; Arthur Russell, 11th Duke of Bedford (2); Virginia Pattle, Countess Somers (5); James Hope; Gertrude Tennant; Sir Thomas Armstrong, sending AHP 'two pots' (2); Richard V. Pope; Michael Ernest Sadler, sending a print of Oxford; Henry Somers Somerset, with his congratulations and regrets on the news of AHP's wedding, and apologising for having omitted to send AHP a gift. With the exception of the correspondence between Anthony Pollen and Jon Sumida, which remains closed until 2029, the collection is open for consultation by researchers using Churchill Archives Centre, Churchill College, Cambridge.
