Material for volume IV of LSA's memoirs, "My Political Life", including: pamphlets on India and the war; notes and typescript on Burma [later Myanmar] and India, and the Balkans; War Cabinet memoranda by LSA on India and the Finance Member of the Viceroy's council, Tibet, social and economic policy, subversion in the Indian Army, morale and the war against Japan and extending the Viceroy's powers to co-ordinate political warfare from India; notes on Yugoslavia, Balkan federation, Afghanistan, the Middle East, India, German strategy in the Mediterranean and Russia and Germany. 1940-41; pamphlet on [William] Lionel Hichens; text of a lecture by LSA on post-war trade, 1945; earlier lecture by LSA on migration within the Empire, c 1922; print of speeches by 2nd Lord Linlithgow [earlier Lord Hopetoun], Viceroy of India, on India and the war, and by LSA on India in the Commonwealth, August 1940; copy of an article by LSA for Paneuropa magazine, "Wie ich die welt regieren wurde" [How I would rule the world], 1932.

Appraisal

This file was badly damaged by mould and could not initially be fully identified until it was conserved in 2024-25. Part of the file was fused together and could not be repaired, and this section was deaccessioned in March 2025.
