Correspondence with LSA's friends and colleagues during the early years of LSA's public career, including a series of year files similar to AMEL 2/1 and also files of letters from individual friends, on subjects including: LSA's work for the Times, particularly on the Times History of the South African War; LSA's attempts to enter Parliament; the Tariff Reform movement; the Home Rule Bill; colonial affairs, particularly political events in South Africa.
