Scope and Contents
Working papers on higher education, covering subjects such as student numbers; university entrance exams, scholarships, and prizes; Oxbridge and redbrick university development and buildings; graduate careers and employment; undergraduate 'mental ill health'; leisure and reading habits of students; government grants to universities, funding, and student loans. Consists largely of press cuttings, articles, and survey data, with Abrams's notes. Includes a copy of 'Cambridge Opinion' (1959) with published social survey data from Research Services Ltd. Also includes letter to Abrams from David Riesman, regarding the surprising results of the Cambridge undergraduate survey and comparisons with Harvard students.
