Biographical / Historical

In 1972, Alison Finch became the second woman, after Daphne Osborne [F 1971-80], to be appointed to a Fellowship of the College. She left the College in 1993 to go to Oxford but returned in 2003 as a Senior Research Fellow. She was Director of Studies in Modern Languages from 1987-1993 and from 2005-2015. She was Vice-Master from 2005-2006 and 2008-2012, also taking on the role of Acting Master in the Lent term of 2012. Alison is a specialist in post-1800 French Literature and is Honorary Professor Emerita in French Literature of Cambridge University
