Biographical / Historical
Michael Hoskin was born on 27 February 1930. He came to the College in 1969 to plan and supervise the construction of the Archives Centre. He has a PhD in Algebraic Geometry and his career centred on the History of Astronomy. He was founder of the Journal of the History of Astronomy which he edited for 45 years. He retired in 1989 and became a Fellow under Title D. Other College positions include: Librarian and Keeper of the Archives 1969-77; President of the SCR 1989-91; Fellows' Steward 1987-88 and 1992.
