Biographical / Historical
Hywel George was born on 10 May 1924. He came to the College as Assistant Bursar and Bursar-elect on 1 April 1971, and retired as Bursar in 1991 when he was elected to a Title D (Pensioner) Fellowship. He served in the RAF from 1943-46 and then went into the Civil Service working in North Borneo [part of Malaysia], Sabbah, from 1949-66 and then the Foreign & Commonwealth Office. His final posting was in St Vincent as Administrator in 1969 before becoming Governor in 1970.
