Biographical / Historical
Lady (Christine) Bondi (née Stockman) (15 June 1923 - 2 March 2015), widow of the third Master of Churchill. Married Hermann Bondi in 1947 when she was an astrophysics research student, supervised by Fred Hoyle. With her husband she published several papers on stellar structure. They had five children: two sons and three daughters. Before Churchill, she taught Maths in Reigate and then at the Perse, Cambridge. In 1985 stood (unsuccessfully) as an SDP candidate in County and City Council Elections. Former Chairperson of the British Humanist Association Education Committee. A great supporter of Save the Children.
