All letters marked up for publication, with transcripts. Subjects include: Shaw's advice to AFB not to appeal against the ban on his play "The Devil's Business"; the work of the Fabian Society's Prison System Inquiry Committee and Shaw's preface to "English Prisons under Local Government", by Sidney and Beatrice Webb [see FEBR 7/3]; a planned lecture by Shaw at Lancaster, November 1920; Shaw's resignation from the Labour Research Department, 1921; a book by AFB on India and Shaw's view on the chances for Indian independence; Shaw's views on killing; capital punishment; peace demonstrations and Shaw's inability to understand the purpose of the Independent Labour Party since the Labour Party was established in Parliament; the opposition between Trade Unionism and Socialism; AFB's candidacy in the Westminster (Abbey) division by-election, 1924 and Shaw's opinion of the other candidates, including Winston Churchill; the anti-conscription manifesto, 1925; the likely effect of Shaw's book [?
