Scope and Contents
Correspondence and papers on the termination of British aid to Tanzania and the effect this was having on the National Parks and their staff, particularly the decision to allow settlement in part of the Serengeti National Park. Correspondents include: John Owen, Director of National Parks, Tanzania (3); Richard Fitter, Secretary of the Fauna and Flora Preservation Society (3); [Ernest] Trevor Huddleston, Bishop Suffragan of Stepney; 2nd Lord Shepherd, Minister of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office, on the decision to cut off aid.
Also includes the Budget speech by the Tanzanian Minister for Finance, 1968 and background papers from John Owen on the issue of staff salaries and pensions in the National Parks service.
