Scope and Contents
Correspondence and papers, mainly invitations to various events relating to India, with subjects including: the establishment of the Tilak Memorial Trust and India Centre, London; the visit by Indira Gandhi, Prime Minister of India, to Britain, 1971; the Ambedkar Foundation; the work of the UK Gandhi Centenary Committee on celebrating the centenary.
Also includes: a report by Mary Dines for the Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants, on a visit to India and Pakistan, particularly on the use of entry certificates, 1969; a letter from Indira Gandhi on the crisis in the Congress Party, 1969; correspondence with Bertrand Russell [3rd Lord Russell] on AFB nominating him for the Jawaharlal Nehru Award for International Understanding; correspondence with Tom McNally, General Secretary of the Labour Party, on AFB meeting the Indian socialist politician Asoka Mehta, 1969.
