Sheila Lyall Grant was born on 16 December 1960. She joined the Diplomatic Service in 1980 and her career included: Western European Department, FCO, 1980-82; Immigration Registry, then Consulate, Islamabad [Pakistan], 1982-85; Protocol Directorate, FCO, 1985-90; Vice-Consul, Paris [France], 1990-93; MPs’ Letters Section, FCO, 1993-96; Consul, Pretoria [South Africa],1996-98; Equal Opportunities Officer, Personnel Policy Department, FCO, 1998-2001; Visits Officer, Protocol Directorate, FCO, 2001-03; Special Unpaid Leave, Pakistan, 2003-06; Head of Visits Section, Protocol Directorate, FCO, 2007-09; Special Unpaid Leave, New York [United States], 2009-15; Project Task Force, FCO, 2015-18; Multilateral Policy Directorate, FCO, 2018-21.
