Carbons of letters from WSC to a variety of prominent individuals including Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Cabinet Ministers, Members of Parliament, Lords, foreign Heads of State, foreign ambassadors, British High Commissioners, Conservative parliamentary candidates, and others.Includes correspondence with Lady Violet Bonham Carter [earlier Violet Asquith and Violet, Lady Bonham Carter, later Lady Asquith of Yarnbury], Sir Ian Jacob [Director General of the BBC], 2nd Lord Camrose [earlier John Berry], Anthony Bevir [Prime Minister's Private Secretary], and the Bishop of Coventry [Neville Gorton] about a broadcast on the BBC by Mrs Knight expressing atheistic tendencies (ff 1-19).Also includes a letter of 28 Feb 1955 to Sir Michael Adeane [Private Secretary to the Queen] about the dinner party for the Queen at Downing Street, in which WSC refers to dinners with King George VI during the Second World War (f 103).Also includes a letter of 18 Feb 1955 to Spyros P Skouras about the cinema at Chartwell (f 114).Also includes a letter of 2 Jan 1955 to Lady Violet Bonham Carter in which WSC refers to the hardening of his opinion against proportional representation (f 226).
