Telegram from WSC to Marshal Stalin marked "Personal and Top Secret" expressing his distress at the "misunderstandings" which have arisen between them over Poland: his regret over the lack of progress in consulting those Poles the British and Americans have recommended; rejecting the "Yugoslav precedent as a model for Poland"; criticising developments in Yugoslavia; explaining why he feels so strongly about Poland; justifying developments in Greece and Belgium; commenting on reports of disappearances and deportations in Poland; and appealing to Stalin to prevent a divided Europe emerging.
