Letter from A F Ewing [Private Secretary to the Minister of Works] (Lambeth Bridge House, London, SE1) to John Martin [Prime Minister's Principal Private Secretary] replying to his letter of 1 Jun [1945] about the report in the Times of Oswald Birley's views on Regent's Park: states that Birley had already written to the Chancellor and encloses copy of letter that he (Ewing) had written to N W G Tucker [Assistant Private Secretary to the Treasury] on this subject [see CHAR 20/196/1]; expresses the view that Birley probably spoke to the press before the Chancellor had had an opportunity to reply to him [signed typescript].
