Prime Minister's printed personal minutes, February 1944. Includes texts of minutes from WSC (annotated with additional printed information) to: members of the Cabinet and other government ministers; General Sir Hastings Ismay [Chief of Staff to the Minister of Defence]; Sir Edward Bridges [Secretary to the War Cabinet]; the Chiefs of Staff; Colonel Ian Jacob [Military Assistant Secretary to the War Cabinet]; Thomas Dugdale [later 1st Lord Crathorne, Chairman of the Conservative Party]; General Frederick Pile [General Officer Commanding in Chief, Antiaircraft Command]; and Sir Richard Hopkins [Permanent Secretary to the Treasury]. Subjects covered by the minutes include: details of equipment available and plans for various military operations, including D Day, and in the Far East, and the Mediterranean; the Axis diplomatic presence in Ireland; the transfer of Italian ships to the Soviet Union; British policy in Yugoslavia [later Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Slovenia] and General Draza Mihailovic [Leader of the Chetniks]; arming the Maquis [French resistance]; proposals for a state medical service; military production; "Crossbow" [Operations against German Rockets and Pilotless Aircraft]; the border between Poland and the Soviet Union; Anglo-American relations after the war; British relations with France; the situation in Greece; the prosecution of a man for killing a pig; Conservative politics; post-war housing; the policy of awarding the Africa and 1939-43 Stars; and a suggestion that the author Major Eric Linklater should be asked to summarise for publication records of conversations between enemy prisoners of war at the Combined Services Detailed Interrogation Centre.
