Speech to be made by Herbert Morrison [Home Secretary] to the Fabian Society on the 30 October on the subject of the State and Industry describing the history government policy to industries and then stating how the war has increased the power of these industries and declaring his support of public ownership of some industries stating that they give some assurance of stability in bad times, and that vast concentrations of wealth are a political menace but pronouncing his support for small enterprises such as shopkeepers and adding that there needs to be a change of methods and of hearts to enable British industries to compete with the best.
