Prime Minister's printed personal minutes, September 1940.Includes texts of minutes from WSC (annotated with additional printed information) to: General Sir Hastings Ismay [Chief of Staff to the Minister of Defence], the Chiefs of Staff and other senior military figures; members of the Cabinet and other government ministers; senior civil servants including Sir Edward Bridges [Secretary to the War Cabinet] and Sir Alexander Cadogan [Permanent Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs]; Colonel Ian Jacob [Military Assistant Secretary to the War Cabinet]; Commander-in-Chief, Home Forces [General Alan Brooke, later 1st Lord Alanbrooke].Subjects covered by the minutes include: air raid warnings, precautions (including for civil servants), and shelters; long-range naval bombardment; transporting equipment through the Mediterranean; the defence of Singapore; naval production; radar defence; operation "Menace" [the code name for the Anglo-Free French mission to Dakar, Senegal]; bombing Germany; fighter and pilot strength; the defence of the British mainland; details of troops in Kenya and Sudan; acquiring troops from around the Empire; chemical warfare; Spain.
