Other correspondents include: Major-General Sir Vernon Kell [MI5] (3); Monsieur Berthoin, Secretary General of the French Ministry of the Interior; Lord MacMillan [of Aberfeldy, Minister of Information] (3) and [1st] Lord Camrose [earlier Sir William Berry, Principal Adviser to Ministry of Information] on WSC's recommendation to make use of Reves' services; Paul Reynaud, French Minister of Finance.Subjects covered by the file include: Reves distributing articles and Allied propaganda in the foreign press and the press situation in neutral countries; arrangements for Reves to travel in and out of Britain and his application for naturalisation; enquiries into Reves' political views and French Intelligence suspicions; Reves' publication of a book "Hitler Speaks".Also includes: a letter from September 1941 from A L Rowse on Cornwall and WSC's war leadership [presumably filed in the wrong place; copy in CHAR 2/425]; notes and copies of correspondence from [Bernard] Sendall [WSC's Admiralty Private Secretary] and secretary [Kathleen] Hill; cuttings attached to some of Reves' letters on propaganda issues; copy and draft of Reves' "laissez passer" for travel to and from Britain; message and report from the "Deuxieme Bureau" [French Intelligence] on Reves;.Please note that all the material other than the Rowse letter dates from 1939.
