Scope and Contents

Transcripts and some original documents relating to wills of benefactors. Comprises published transcripts of wills of Henry VI and of John Hogekyns, Henry Pawley, Henry Purefoy, John Price, Richard Day, John Hungerford, Edmund Vintner, John Smith (Bursar, d 1755), Edward Betham, Walter Chetwynd, Cooke, Robert Glynn, George Richards (d 1849), George Thackeray (Provost), George William Craufurd, Richard Burgh Byam, Daniel Pulteney, Thomas James and Joseph Davidson. The book also contains MS and TS transcripts, summaries or extracts of wills of John Chamber (including copy and original correspondence with Provost Okes and agents' fees in connection with Chamber's will, 1856-81), of Roger Goad, John Cowell, Thomas Goade, Nicholas Hobart, Thomas Crouch, Thomas Page, Richard Elliott, William Bullock, Benjamin Archer, Jacob Bryant (including family tree), Jonathan Davies, Charles [Grape], W E Ridler, Martin Thackeray (Vice-Provost), Thomas Appreece Soley, William Wigan Harvey, John Martyr Ward, Laura Mary Fielder, Frederick Whitting (Bursar), and John Edwin Nixon; published information on the (William) Lisle family; the original will of Thomas Gearing; and an original opinion of Sidebottom on Dr William Cooke's legacy (d 1797).
