Original letters to Hugh Meredith: -3 ALS from Lytton Strachey, 3 Oct 1903, 26 Mar [1905] and 5 May 1909, with 2 envelopes; -2 ALS from Lascelles Abercrombie, 30 May [c. 1907-9] and 9 June 1907; -1 ALS from A[rthur] C[hristopher] Benson, 16 Dec 1910; -1 ALS from Rupert Brooke, 5 Jan 1911, with envelope; -1 ALS from Bertrand Russell, 13 Apr 1911, with envelope; -1 TLS from [EM Forster], with envelope postmarked 21 June 1911; -1 ALS from G[odfrey] H[arold] Hardy, with envelope postmarked 2 Jan 1912; -2 ALS from Roger Fry, 6 Feb 1912 and 30 Dec 1912 enclosing an unsigned woodblock print Madonna and Child Christmas card, with one envelope; -1 ALS from John Maynard Keynes, 20 Oct 1913, with envelope. (16 pages + 8 envelopes of originals.) Photocopies of letters to Hugh Meredith: -from Brooke, Forster, Fry and Keynes as above; -1 ALS from Virginia Stephen (later Woolf), 6 Feb [1912], with envelope; -1 ALS from D[avid] H[erbert] Lawrence, 2 Nov 1915, with envelope.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

Photocopies of the Brooke, Forster, Fry and Keynes letters were provided by S Gorley Putt in March 1987 and previously catalogued as Misc. 15/2. Photocopies of the DH Lawrence and Virginia Stephen letters, and all the originals were given by S May, executor to S Gorley Putt, in March 2020.
