Scope and Contents
10 autograph letters signed. The letter dated 8 Oct. 1930 encloses early typescript drafts of 'What I Expected' and 'Unemployed' (see 'Collected Poems' (Faber: London, 1985), pp. 24, 45). The letter dated 2 May 1988 encloses a photograph of Stephen Spender taken in the 1930s, annotated on the reverse by John Lehmann, 26 Oct. 1937.

The majority of the Rylands Papers are readily available to scholars in the Archive Centre. Record consultation is by appointment. Personal letters of living authors may only be consulted with their written permission. Some material is reserved in view of its sensitivity. There is no access to such material for the time being.
